Folk art rococo chairs from Järvsö in Hälsingland, Sweden. The chairs are a charming pair made around the turn of the century, circa 1790 to 1810. The chairs are known as Järvsöstolar, “Järvsö-chairs”, as this model of chair was only made around the village Järvsö.
They are decorated with hand-carved wood decor, both on the backrest and at the front of the seat. The chairs are painted pine with traces of the original paint. The paint has some distress as well as patina after use. The seats are wider at the front than the back, 46 and 37 cm respectively.
