Large shaker style box from northern Sweden made around 1850. The box is hand-made in pine with hardware and a handle in wrought iron. It has an unusually elaborate lock mechanism in iron – see picture. Original faux paint that imitates mahogany. While small this box is intricate with carefully crafted details such as the way the ends are fastened to the box. The box could be the finishing touch to the shelf or table regardless of space. The paint has some distress after use.
