Swedish gustavian black bureau from the last years of the 18th century, around 1790 to 1800. Made in painted pine where the paint has distress and patina causing the pine to shine trough in places. The bureau has straight tapered legs and the corner posts have hand-carved flutes running vertically. It also has a trim underneath the table top.

The hardware is old hardware in brass and the drawers are fully functional. The bureau is healthy and solid. An unusual detail is that the bottom drawer has paw prints from a cat. Most likely a cat has stepped in ink and then stepped around inside the bottom drawer.
