Swedish modern pair of chairs designed by Gösta Johansson in Sweden during the mid 20th century, around 1940. The chairs are made in Jönköping in Sweden. They have been professionally renovated and restored from the bones out with completely new filling, padding, and outer fabric. The legs are stained birch.

The outer fabric is Alpaca from Finnish Lauritzon’s. It’s a very luxurious fabric which is velvety to the touch and made from alpaca wool. Alpacas live in the rough nature of South American Andes. They have adapted to the environment by growing soft and thick wool to protect them from the cold temperatures and strong sunlight. The result is a unique natural material which is both strong and soft.

The chairs are as current today as they were at the time they were originally designed over 80 years ago. It’s a sign of excellent design when it remains timeless and current despite years past and these chairs are such an example. They have generous proportions with plush padding and luxurious depth which makes them look inviting while remaning effortlessly stylish. The colour of the fabric accentuates the lines of the chairs while adding a charming pop of colour that sets this matching pair apart.
