Swedish folk art dinner table in unpainted pine with table top of solid pine boards. The pine table has its origin in northern Sweden and was manufactured during the late 1700s. The table is in original condition, complete with the original patina due to 250 years of use. The table has never been painted and all parts are original to the table.
The type of table with wooden table tops and leg-frame can be traced back to the early 1600s and are still manufactured today. The table top is loose on the frame resulting in easy assembly – no tools necessary. And they don’t have a single screw, everything is kept together by wooden plugs. Each table top is held together by a wooden joist on either side that is also matched exactly to the leg-frame. The two are lined up side by side underneath, hindering the other from moving and making the table stable. No set are the same, having all the original parts including the stretcher and wedge gives the tables their stability.
