Antique Swedish stump chair in folk art. The chair is made from a single piece of wood, a pine log that’s been hollowed out by hand. Made in Sweden around the year 1800. This chair is a particularly large one, measuring 86 cm tall and almost 60 cm across. Original blue paint with distress and patina after use. The chair also has a storage space underneath the seat. The bottom plate was likely replaced during the 1800s. Reinforcements in iron in the form of 2 hand-wrought bands wrapping around the upper and lower end of the base. The chair has some minor dry cracks.
