Antique Swedish country table from the late gustavian period around 1810. The table has original blue paint – blue is an unusual colour as the pigment was difficult and expensive to make. Only the most wealthy household could afford to paint blue and therefore it’s an unusual furniture. In the top drawer there’s an inscription in pencil “Erik Jonsson …by Rossla är egare till detta bord” translating to “Erik Jonsson in village Rossla is the owner of this table”.

Rossla is a village in northern Sweden in the province Hälsingland. The table has two drawers as well as decorations in the form of leaves on the legs and apron. Healthy and stable frame made by hand in solid pine.
