Swedish folk art cabinet from 1857. The cabinet has its origin on a farm estate in Northern Sweden, in the province Jämtland. Made by hand in solid pine. The cabinet is in completely untouched condition and still has the original faux paint and marbled pediment as well as a dating on the door, 1857.
The interior is slightly unusual with the decorated drawer and hidden secret compartments on each side. The interior has never been painted. Working original lock and key. The cabinet is made in two sections and is in good vintage condition with some minor traces of use. The trim at the top and centre has a minor loss of material at the corner – see pictures. Minor dry cracks at the centre of the doors due to the wood being a natural material and slightly shrinking in dry air. Nothing that affects function or stability.
