Unusual Neoclassical Writing Table from Sweden
Höjd : 78 cm
Längd : 139 cm
Bredd : 81 cm
Unusual neoclassical writing table with a top gallery with drawers on each side. The table is made in northern Sweden around 1790 which is during the Swedish gustavian era. More internationally known as the neoclassical period, both refer to the same time period and the names are simply different between regions. The gallery or additional upper part of this table is an unusual detail. It contains tree drawers on each side and has an open slot in the middle.
Painted with the original salmon pink paint which has naturally become distressed over time giving the table an authentic patina. Straight tapered legs with corner consoles on both sides. The brass knobs are later. One corner underneath the table top has an old enforcement in iron. The frame is solid and the wood is healthy. Height to rim is 59 cm.
