Tall Gustavian Corner Cabinet from Northern Sweden
Höjd : 233 cm
Längd : 67 cm
Bredd : 51 cm
Tall gustavian corner cabinet from northern Sweden made during the late 18th century, circa 1790. The cabinet is made in two parts and this particular model has a tall upper and slightly smaller lower cabinet. It has a straight model typical to the gustavian period with smooth surfaces and restrained decor. This cabinet has a restrained and refined grace that hallmarks the Swedish gustavian era. And the tall and narrow model takes up little floorspace while drawing the eyes upward for an added sense of height.
Painted with the original paint the cabinet has the patina of time where the paint has become naturally distressed with time. Working lock and keys on both the upper and lower cabinet. One of the shelves has a dry crack, see picture, but nothing that effects stability or function. The whole cabinet is healthy and solid. The lower and upper cabinet are 87 and 146 cm tall respectively. The two sides meant to face the walls are both 61 cm wide.
